Welche anderen Einnahmemöglichkeiten gibt es für Musiker, Produzenten & deren Management/Labels in der Zusammenarbeit mit Marken?

Nicht erst Corona hat hauptberuflichen Musiker*innen und dem Business im Allgemeinen knallhart aufgezeigt, dass ein erfolgreiches Album und eine ausverkaufte Tour keine direkte Garantie mehr dafür sind, mit seinem Traumberuf auch seinen Lebensunterhalt bestreiten zu können. Sync has become an important source of income and exposure for a lot of artists & labels – so a lot of people are keen to be “in the game”. But to even stand a chance to land a placement in this highly competitive market, we need to navigate certain rules, pitfalls, and get a proper understanding of the gatekeepers and their expectations.

Patrick Joest has built and run BMG’s global sync business from scratch, and led the company’s US sync team out of LA for a number of years. He will give you an introduction into the world of sync and walk you through the most important particularities of this fascinating part of the music business.

Whether live shows are going be possible soon again, or not, live streaming is definitely here to stay! The problem with it in its current iteration is that it's boring as fuck! This is also what makes it so exciting, because there is room to innovate.

This workshop will explore the possibilities of applying art-cinema tropes, performance art formats and street level interventions to create interesting new hybrids – formats we've not seen yet! The workshop will be structured like a group-based think tank, where we will come up with ideas for such formats, ones that can be executed on small budgets.
This workshop is open to musicians, performance artists and filmmakers.

The workshop will be led by spoken word artist / creative director Lukasz Polowczyk.

From the idea of VR live concerts to creative ‚collaborations‘ between artists and AI such as „Flow Machines“ to data based A&Ring, we will take a closer look at the amazing opportunities that can lie within technological innovation.

Berlin ist bekannt für sein spannendes Nachtleben und seine zahlreichen Clubs und DJs rund um elektronische Tanzmusik. Viele TouristInnen reisen deswegen nach Berlin, zahlreiche kulturell interessierte Menschen ziehen sogar in die Stadt, um produktiv daran teilzunehmen und sich selbst zu verwirklichen. Jenseits der medialen Oberfläche der Clubs und populären DJs jedoch entstand in Berlin eine richtige eigene Szenewirtschaft, die davon lebt das Spektakel für viele Menschen herzustellen. In diesem Workshop geht es darum die eigenen Strukturen und Märkte der Szenewirtschaft kennenzulernen: Was ist das Besondere der Kultur, welche Märkte gibt es, wie wird gewirtschaftet, welche Organisationen gibt es?

Music Pool Berlin and European Women in Music would like to invite you to a Community Evening on International Women's day: March 8, 2017 at Aquarium in Kreuzberg. (English,free entry)

The topic will be: Support structures and strategies in the music industry

Panel moderation by journalist/musicologist Stephanie Alisch.

In this panel, we will be looking at the support structures that women/female-identified people access (or provide) within the music industry. Questions for the panel include: have they experienced such structures, what were they, where did they come from, and how have they benefitted from them? Did they seek out the structures? Or did they happen organically? Alternatively: what do they feel is lacking? We'll also be looking at strategies of self-care and survival techniques.

STEFANIE ALISCH (MODERATOR)
Stefanie is a musicologist and DJ, with experience in the Berlin music (technology) industry (Jazzanova, Native Instruments, Ableton), as well as teaching DJing and radio workshops (including Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Hamburger Bahnhof, Arena). She was director of the project department "Groove: Rhythmus, Körper, Dialogizität" at the HU Berlin and is currently working on her PhD on Kuduro music and dance from Angola. She has conducted research and consultation for various international bodies, and lectured at home and abroad

JESSICA EKOMANE
Jessica Ekomane was born in France and now lives and works in Berlin. Her practice unfolds around sound installations and music.
She did projects in such places as the Marrakesch Biennale, the Electronic Music Week of Shangai, CTM or Deutsche Oper, received an honorary mention for the Sonotopia award 2016 and has been a DAAD scholarship holder. MO LOSCHELDER
After her studies at Duesseldorf Art Academy with famous painter Gerhard Richter, Mo Loschelder moved to Berlin, where she started to DJ and collaborate with visual artist Daniel Pflumm and electronic musician Klaus Kotai, organising the clubs "Elektro“ and "Panasonic", curating the music program at "Init", running the label ELEKTRO MUSIC DEPARTMENT and producing under the moniker Kotai+Mo, Los Dos, Mo feat. El Puma as well as her own name. She founded her own agency MEDIA LOCA, focusing on experimental electronic artists, such as Gudrun Gut, Lucrecia Dalt or Electric Indigo. She has co-produced several political/musical festivals as Perspectives, Festival, Continuity and Change and Heroines of Sound.

ASCHKA
Electronic musician and producer. Member of the female:pressure collective (Berlin chapter). Aschka has been active for over a decade in the underground electronic music scene as a producer and live performer of raw tech house – with her Ibadan Records collaboration – and deep experimental works, including a string of releases on the now defunct San Francisco-based de’fchild recordings. Originally from Canada, she is now based in Berlin where she continues to work on various musical projects, compositions and remixes. KATJA LUCKER
Katja is the managing director of Musicboard Berlin GmbH which actively supports the Berlin pop music scene. The Musicboard is responsible for organizing the Pop-Kultur festival under her lead. Katja started her career as an actress in Berlin in 1990 but quickly became successfully self-employed as a cultural manager. Her portfolio ranges from managing tasks at the ‘Kesselhaus Kulturbrauerei’ Berlin and the ‘Karneval der Kulturen’ to a work with as a project manager for creative industries during Ruhr.2010 – the European Capital of Culture or with Karlheinz Stockhausen at ‘Haus der Berliner Festspiele’

JANA SOTZKO
Jana studied musicology and literature and completed the masters program „Sound Studies - Acoustic Communication" at the University of Arts in Berlin in 2011. ZIÚR
Is a Berlin-based DJ/producer dedicated to combining different sonic textures and brainy beats into a functional dancefloor framework. Ziúr self-released her first mixtape, titled /xuːx/, seamlessly mixing seven instrumentals and two vocal collabs, with Brooklyn's Samantha Urbani & Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) and San Francisco rapper MicahTron. The tweaky follow-up single "Lips"and its video dropped just as Ziúr joined Peaches on a string of European tour dates. At the end of a busy year, Ziúr was selected by Fact Mag for their “Best Club Tracks of 2016” and The Fader as one of the "Artists you Need to Know About in 2017.” Aside from all that she has shared a number of adventurous mixes online, including one with NYC’s Discwoman collective or another with Resident Advisor, and she continues to co-organize BOO HOO (named one of “Berlin's best club nights” by Time Out and i-D). https://soundcloud.com/ziurziurziur

European Women in Music is a new Berlin based-European wide network, planning a programme of networking, mentoring, think tanks & discussion events, culminating in a conference to take place this November in Berlin. Zweites Standbein für MusikerInnen -arts-in-education

Der Begriff "Kulturelle Bildung" (arts-in-education) ist in aller Munde. Förderer geben viel Geld für Projekte aus ihren Bildungs-Töpfen, man will Kindern und Jugendlichen den Zugang zu ästhetischer Bildung ermöglichen. Doch wer sind die gängigen Förderer, wie muss ein Antrag aussehen, worauf muss man achten, wie findet man die Kids und Teens bzw. Schulen? Ist es langweilige Musiktheorie oder eher spannende, gesellschaftliche Themen und Musikprojekte, die man hier umsetzen kann?

Auf all diese Fragen gibt die Schauspielerin und Sängerin Ulrike Düregger, Mitglied des LAFT Berlin, gerne Antworten.
