Social-Media-Kanäle sind trotz ungeliebter Algorithmen und stetig sinkender Reichweiten unverzichtbarer Bestandteil (fast) jeder Künstlerkommunikation. Wer sie geschickt nutzt, kann sich unabhängig und direkt eine eigene Fanbase aufbauen und seine Karriere selbstbestimmt in die entscheidende Richtung lenken. Oft scheitern die unzähligen Möglichkeiten an der konkreten Umsetzung und guten Konzepten, die unterhalten und sich gleichzeitig individuell abheben.
In diesem zweiteiligen Workshop betrachten wir die vielfältigen Social-Media-Plattformen hinsichtlich ihrer Nutzbarkeit für Kreativschaffende. Wir bestimmen die einzelnen Schritte zur Planung, Konzeption und Umsetzung der eigenen Kommunikationsstrategie und zeigen anhand von Best-Practice-Beispielen, welche (vielleicht auch ungeahnten) Möglichkeiten die einzelnen Plattformen bieten.
Im zweiten Teil des Workshops wird es praktisch! Wir entwickeln zusammen mit den Künstlern konkrete Kommunikationsideen für ihre Kanäle.

During Training Day on the festival Saturday all guests of the Reeperbahn Festival will have the opportunity to breathe the atmosphere of the music world, gain insights into or deepen their knowledge of the current music business at about 25 workshops, coaching sessions and speeches.

The Training Day is aimed at everyone who is looking for access to the music business, or who already has a professional career and want to further qualify and improve. Experts from the sectors live entertainment, recorded music, publishing, marketing and technology will convey realistic and practical insights into their international music business work, also to newcomers. You want to play a concert and are looking for bookings? How about organizing your own show? Maybe inviting others along? At this Music Pool evening we want to look into the ins and outs of organizing a concert and the different activities associated with it: finding the right venue, making a budget, dealing with Gema, insurance etc., renting equipment, putting a team together, making a lineup, promoting the show and so on. In particular, we want to look at concerts at a smaller scale. We have invited concert organizers to share their experiences and insights with you from their different perspectives - booking shows in a venue, promoting concerts of other bands, and organizing shows as a musician.

With Imogen Heap releasing "Tiny Human" in 2015 as the first song ever on a Blockchain platform, the technology's hype finally reached the music industry as well.

Due to its links to Bitcoin many people remain sceptical regarding Blockchain. To others, it's nothing less than the solution for almost any problem that the music industry currently has to face - it's expected to revolutionise music.

But what exactly is it? Who is going to benefit from it? Does it really have the power to improve the situation of creatives? Or is it rather just another way to disadvantage composers and musicians?

The workshop provides an introduction to Blockchain. In order to enable participants to make up their mind about this rather complex topic, essentials will be explained in relation to examples from music. As a part of the workshop, pros and cons as well as open questions will be discussed.

It's sad to see artists work on their releases for a year or more and then have their work disappear from the media gaze in a matter of weeks, or possibly arrive to absolutely no fan base, no demand and zero media support.
This is a workshop about creative ways of "repackaging" releases and creating promo tools that can extend a record's "media lifespan" from the standard 6-8 weeks to up to year, and possibly beyond. Please Don't Kill Your Records will cover promo and release strategy from the point of view of creating different types of content – both physical and digital – out of a single release, to sustain the needs of music portals and social media for prolonged periods of time. We will look at the benefits of executing a long-term strategy based on real content and discuss ways to create it without a big budget.
